My name is Jess Martinez and I am a Mexican-American illustrator / designer born and raised here in sunny Los Angeles. Online, I embrace the pseudonym Scion Illustration. “Scion,” meaning a young shoot or twig used in grafting, mirrors my creative process where I meticulously bring together several design inspirations. I am particularly attracted to the allure of natural and botanical motifs paired with vintage, yet refreshing color palettes.

My passion extends across various realms of publishing, from crafting book covers and illustrating children’s books to consumer products and pattern design. Though my interests may grow in the future as I love learning new things and expanding my toolbox.
